ITA then ENG, after the picture. They say that it is crucial to look at the small things, they even write it on those magnets sticked on the fridge or on those shelf souvenirs, but their real nature is often unknown.
When a nice quote or meaningful sentence becomes "furniture", It gets added to the list of those things that will gradually loose your attention and for which you'll soon get bored. The small things they refer to, I believe, are mostly appearing in fractions of a second, in the smile of a stranger, in a stork's beak that looks like a blade at sunset and in an iridescence in the sky, whose spectrum covers the available Caran d'Ache colors selection. The small things they write about, are in words said as sign of huge esteem and as reward for the efforts done, they are in the kisses of those two, sit on the church stairs, or in the girl stopping her bicycle to smell the scent of that flower she couldn't miss. Even if legs feel stuck like in a bog and breath suffucated, the real significant consequence of a hard period, lies in the potential of learning, growth and expression. And in this context "small things" fully find their powerful meaning. Give me a vast expanse of asphalt, grass will almost die, that seems a price to pay, for the time being. But as long as children are drawing on it, with colorful chalks, everything is fine and nobody will get hurt.

(ITA, then ENG after the picture) Il suolo si risveglia illuminato, le foglie si lasciano trafiggere dalla luce, i fiori aprono le loro braccia al passaggio della stella. Animali, piante, odori, colori: tutti sono così indaffarati! (Foto scattate nel Marzo 2017, attorno a me). ENG
The soil wakes up illuminated, leaves are pierced by light, flowers open their arms towards the star. Animals, plants, scents, colors: everyone and everything is so busy! ENG Carl Sagan was fascinated by books and by the humans ability of storing their knowledge out of the brain, in books, cassettes etc. In a TV show, he said: <<The whole idea of what happens when you read a book, I find absolutely stunning. Here is some product of a tree, with little black squibbles on it, you open it up, and inside your head is the voice of someone speaking who may have been dead 3000 years, and there it is talking directly to you. What a magical thing that is!>> He was definitely right, that voice is speaking to us, sometimes it comes from a man, sometimes from a woman, it seems to be far while it lies inside us, where it can only be heard by us. When books are given to us as a gift or lent ("I thought about you while reading it!"), if we are lucky we may find pencil comments or marks left by previous readers. I try to imagine the pencil moving, leaving those notes, and I rest my eyes on words that gave birth to thoughts in another mind, before mine was affected as well. And what are singers feeling, when they see their songs sung by friends and strangers? Those words, written in precise moments, often very intimate ones, are now moving someone else's lips. What a magical thing that is! As human beings, we are lucky enough to spread a lot, in countless ways. As human beings, we have the chance to realize that we are all part of a net of emotions that transcends time and space. As human beings, we have the honour to experience that we are "one". (ITA then ENG, after the pictures) Dedicata a chi rischia per quel che conta. Dedicated to those who risk for what really matters. March is used to this,
I step up the pace, I scream with closed eyes, Unaware of my nudity. I steal the spotlight, It's not arrogance, but taking the risk, that's the only thing I can do. I put all myself, in a difficult birth, throwing all my resources to caress your eyes. Like a sailor, or a baker, I wake up at night, to smell the scent of the beginning. After the flowers, you'll see my leaves, until you'll ignore me again something I'll accept. Forgive my exhibitionism, bastion of my frailty. Admire my efforts: giving everything for that moment. All things by immortal power, Near or far, Hiddenly To each other linkèd are, That thou canst not stir a flower Without troubling of a star" From "The Mistress of Vision" by Francis Thompson (1859–1907) (ENG only) I've been fascinated by composite pictures since ages. This "digital collage" method , especially when applied to astronomy, brings an immediate and long-lasting marvel that I wanted to share. I put here some links to some of the most amazing examples, taken from the NASA "Astronomy Picture of the day" but you will find thousands of other pictures on the internet. Here they are! We know that Earth rotation makes the sky (with all the stars) move as well. Here is how the sky would look like, if stars left a trail behind them. Aurora Borealis enriches even more this terrific picture! The 22-degree halo is a fascinating optical effect that can be observed around the sun and the moon in specific conditions. How about putting together a Sun and Moon halo? The sequence of a moon eclipse, and the stunning red shadings covering our satellite... last but not least...maybe my favourite... If we took the position of the sun throughout the year, roughly at the same time, what would be the "trail" that the Sun would leave in the sky? Here below one of the best examples, featuring even an amazing eclipse. The resulting "diagram" is the so called "analemma", where the highest point is the summer solstice, the lowest point is the winter solstice and the crossing point is roughly where the two equinoxes "apparently meet". A special "thank you!" to Tunç Tezel for giving me the chance to publish the picture directly here! ITA then ENG
